Orthopedics of trees

Trees have wonderful adaptability. In nature, they can be found in a variety of areas and in wide climatic conditions around the world thanks to this ability, but this is not the case in urban areas. Most often, the urban tree came into its place by humans who planted it without regard to the growing conditions to which it will be exposed during its lifetime. Whether because of the process of growth, care, or the nature of the tree it is sometimes necessary to provide it with supports whose purpose is to prevent potential damage to the tree.

There are many benefits to providing support for trees but sometimes it is not necessary and even taking this action can actually harm the tree. Therefore, if it is decided, it is important that it be done by a person authorized to do so. Many professionals agree that for mature trees, the risk potential, especially in the urban space because of its proximity to humans, is such that it is worthwhile to provide them with support systems of various kinds.

The main methods used to support trees are to use cables that hold parts of the tree together, use poles that fasten different parts of the tree and prevent their movement, use external support such as scaffolding or poles located around the tree, and anchor using cables to another object such as trees or ground.
